Hola FIRE flowers! Happy October:)
My spouse and I love October. Admittedly, I startle easily from horror movies, so we add horror movies and series to our Netflix list throughout the year, and then come October 1st, let the frights begin! And we move from light spooky in the beginning of the month to deeply mentally destabilizing creeps for the final Halloween weekend. That’s what I’ll be getting up to this month, starting tonight!
Our topics for today are:
- 100 Reasons to FIRE
- Travel Updates!
- Q3 2023 Update & Goals
100 Reasons to FIRE
It’s all about the MOTIVATIONS babes! Every proper FIRE blogger has at least one post that lays out reasons to FIRE, and I’ve decided to summarize my reasons in a succinct list. Of 100. Ha!
Well, technically, my partner and I compiled this list together. So we do have some overlap. And I’ve added category heading for skimming ease.
Mine are in BLUE.
My spouse’s are in GREEN.

Ta-da!! It juiced my motivations just typing these all together! Hopefully, in the next 8 or so years, if my motivation ever wanes I will be able to come out to this post and re-invigorate. I am super excited to have the time and money to build the life that we have painted here.
Travel Updates:
In July I took a long weekend with a couple of friends down to Lake Okoboji in Iowa! It was a fun a quick little road trip, and I have zero pictures to even prove I was there. Whoops!
In August, my partner and I flew out to Baltimore for a weekend! We spent our time walking, eating, and exploring neighborhoods that we are considering living in when we move out there. We narrowed it down! It was honestly such a great weekend. We really love and feel at home in Baltimore. I don’t think we will be able to wait we are closer to FIRE in order to relocate. I’ll keep you posted on when we up and scoot out there 😉

And lastly! I spent the bulk of my September in North Carolina! I have a friend that is a traveling nurse, and we spent a week in Greensboro, NC where she was on contract, and then we spent the rest of the time in Shallotte, NC where her home is. Shallotte is only a 10 minute drive to the beach! We didn’t actually spend much time there ha – it seems an odd paradox that occurs when you live so close to the beach…

2023 Goal Check-in

Tucking along! All financial goals for the year are on track for success!!

Ehhh, I am not feeling like this is going to be a knockout year for goal completion on the personal front. But, allow me to fess up:
Read 50 Books: Over halfway! The only goal this far along, and yet still not on a confident pace. But, I am going to switch focus from non-fiction books to fiction and have a lovely winter season of romance and thrillers.
Take a trip by myself: Hotel and flight are booked, and now we wait!
Free Writing Notebook: This is very hard. It has turned out to be a much more challenging goal than I would have anticipated at the start of the year. I’ll keep at it, but I am loosing hope….
Lose 35lbs: *blows humungous raspberry* Okay: I stress ate in NC, and I stress ate in preparation of NC. I am not counting myself out on this one, and I do already feel pretty snazzed about the progress I’ve already made.
Enjoy the last 3 months of 2023! See you back here for year-end wrap up!
